Milton is the latest forage oat bred by Plant and Food Research with improved production and disease resistance.
Milton is a very high yield oat, ideally suited for autumn-planting and single grazing in winter. Milton is also ideal for green chop silage, either planted late autumn after maize or planted in spring. Milton maintains a high leaf to stem ratio and freedom of disease which enhances silage quality.
Milton was bred in New Zealand from several lines of elite germplasm from the USA. Intense selection was placed on disease resistance and rapid growth.
