Forage Breeding Programmes

Agricom’s core business is investing in plant breeding to produce innovations that will increase farmers’ profitability. This research is in the field of superior plant genetics and endophyte. Quantum leap innovations are achieved and expected from our Research and Development (R & D) programme, given the leading edge technology approach used and the high calibre science staff employed internally and by our partners. Agricom has exclusive plant breeding relationships with AgResearch Grasslands and their international partners in the areas of ryegrass and tall fescue, through a new joint venture called Grasslands Innovation, and with Plant and Food Research within their New Zealand Forage Cereal Programme. In addition to these relationships, Agricom will provide a channel to market for the products developed within their own breeding programmes.
